Our marker is being cast!

Good news, y’all, the Texas Historical Commission notified us that our turn has finally come up, and our historic-cemetery marker has been sent to the foundry for casting. We can expect to receive the marker in roughly 6–8 weeks, depending on the foundry’s workload—and of course, we’re all familiar with the risks of pandemic-related delays these days.

Next steps: Given the ongoing pandemic and how long the process has already taken, there’s a general consensus that it makes sense to have the marker installed promptly after it arrives, without delaying it further for an official dedication ceremony. Then we can plan a celebration later, when gatherings are safe.

So stay tuned. The next update will hopefully be to share photos of our shiny, new historic-cemetery marker!
