A couple of updates on the cemetery beautification project, which has been moving along quickly and smoothly so far thanks to all the help and support from so many people:
The primos completed the caliche resurfacing a couple of weeks ago, and the cemetery roads are looking great!
You’ll also see signage and temporary flags marking the easement for the liquid-propane pipeline that crosses the cemetery’s northwest corner (see photos below). By law, a 25-foot clearance is required on each side. A lifetime right of way was secured in 1937 from the landowners, before that portion of the cemetery was purchased. The pipeline had been abandoned for a time and the easement hadn’t been cleared. Now, the Enterprise Pipeline Company, which currently operates the pipeline, has marked the easement and will be working with the primos to erect fencing around it. They’ve also put in their own gate to access the pipeline.
Visit the beautification project webpage to see a list of donors to date or to find out how to get involved. Thanks for your interest and help!
